In Autumn, we were asked to design a mini collection of ‘five gold rings’ for Recycle Your Electricals, a not-for-profit campaign aimed at raising awareness of the growing problem of e-waste. Its mission: to educate the public on how its incorrect disposal causes the loss of valuable resources, environmental damage, and contributes to climate change. Its close alignment to Lylie’s Sustainable Jewellery’s values meant we were honoured to be involved.

We are unbelievably excited that this large scale campaign supported by sustainability advocate and fashion model Lily Cole has now launched. From donating, repairing, to recycling, there are many ways to extract value from obsolete electronics lying in drawers - their website provides a wealth of information. With a typical mobile phone holding 0.2g of gold as well as other less precious metals, dismantling it and salvaging the materials makes both environmental and financial sense. At Lylie's Sustainable Jewellery, we love that our jewellery is helping to change attitudes towards trash by turning it into treasures.
